Circumstances
Currently
After the end of yet another season, Emma will soon be forced to endure the winter in the company of her mother—a woman with one clear goal: to ensure her eldest daughter sets a proper example for the rest of the family, to marry well, and to marry without discord. If possible, she hopes Emma will marry for love, not out of obligation. As always, our girl will suffer under the relentless persistence of a woman filled with regrets—a mother determined to see her child happy, even if it means confronting the disappointments she herself has known. Alongside her, Emma will also have the presence of her brother, Edmund, who assumes the role of the father she never had, while Elijah and the other siblings remain the only calm amidst the storm that’s sure to come.Health & Capabilities
Emma is the picture of health. Bright blue eyes like clear skies in a spring day; features as soft as porcelain, and a slight frame that would seem to fit perfectly in anyone's hands. A seductive and daring mole that seems to beg for a stolen kiss, at the corner of her lips, followed by a beautiful and sweet smile, and a slender neck leading to a clavicle that appears sculpted, not made of flesh and bone. Thanks to her daily walks and riding, her complexion is also considerably athletic, yet so much that it would be considered unlady-like.
Socioeconomics
As a daughter of a MArquess, and a cold one at that, she has never been included in any kind of conversation where money was discussed, except for her brothers. However, it is known that the Marquess is a smart man, with an eye for investments, and someone that does not spend the money lightly.Skills & Talents

Habits & Routines
Reading is one of her passions, perhaps the one she practices the most. It is a perfect way to forget her reality and escape, to pretend she is someone else. However, as much as she rathers a good romance or adventure, she will often switch it for a History book, or one about Art.On the other hand, music has always been the most easy way to soothe herself, and to regulate her emotions when they became a storm almost impossible to contain. Music is a way to express the feelings not even she yet understands. At the same time, embroidery works wonders every time she needs to focus on something mundane. Or when she is in need of an excuse to not be part of a conversation. It usually happens that times ends up flying for Emma when she concentrates on this activity long enough.
Long walks, especially in gardens or nature, bring peace to her soul in a way nothing else quite does. She can breath, think, and burn off whatever steam, or nerves, that could be distressing her.
Painting is just another art without the need of speech that helps her externalize whatever it is she's feeling. The colors she uses often help her, as much as the music, to guess what is going on in her head, or her heart. Although her talent resides in landscapes, and greatly retrogress shall she ever attempt to paint something else.
Another interests are animals - except for reptiles of any kind-, nature, riding, tea...

Personality
Nothing seems to phase her, a benefit that surely comes from being an Edevane. A troubled one, that is. She has been raised just like her siblings, which means that she was not spoiled - not in a good way, if there's any - and she definetely did not get enough attention, nor love. However, she knows what it is to be needed by those family members who come for either comfort or something more. She is used to be the caretaker, the loving sister, the always present friend. Quite the people-pleasing type of personality, if you ask me. Therefore, Emma does not know how to take care of her own needs, and ignores the deep meaning of some of her feelings, if not all of them. In consequence, she thinks very logically, not so much emotionally, as her feelings tend to be a turnmoil hard to analyze for her.Despite all this, she is sincere, and truly loves to be there for whoever needs it. She treasures with all her heart the peaceful moments, the song of someone's laugh, the feeling after finding herself helpful. Although, in all truth, she lacks the wisdom of elders or the comprehension of the world as a man, she at least can show some fierceness when the situation truly requires it... after having demonstrated an immeasurable amount of patience, that is
Background
History
Edgar John Edevane knew exactly what he wanted in life: wealth, prosperity, and purpose. His father had no doubts about his own place in the world, nor did his grandfather before him. Being a viscount was a birthright that was not to be taken lightly. Just because it was given did not mean it could be treated carelessly. No, it came with responsibilities, an honor to fulfill, tenants to care for, and a lineage to continue. To be a Marquess was more than a title—it was to be a leader of society, a living example of how the ton should behave.Throughout his childhood, his father was both hero and mentor. Every word the man spoke was as sacred as those uttered by a priest in the name of God. Unsurprisingly, before Edgar was even born, he had already been betrothed to a lady from a prosperous and noble family. As always, he was expected to follow his father's commands without complaint. However, something happened that no one anticipated. Edgar fell in love with another lady, a woman whose name he kept secret. For the first time in his life, he refused to follow anything but his heart. But fate was not kind. Both he and his love were trapped by their families’ influence, power, and expectations. Forced to fulfill their duties, she was taken away—to where, he never knew—while he was pushed into marriage with threats looming over him. Edgar had never hated anyone before, but Georgia became the bane of his existence.
It took them a long time to have any children, as Edgar was too disgusted with himself and with her. When he was finally assured of having enough sons, he severed any remaining ties with his wife. He did not even share the same air she breathed if he could avoid it.
Edmund Edevane was born on a cold evening in the gargantuan estate owned by his father. His birth was not the product of love but of duty—a fact his father wasted no time in making clear. From the moment Edmund could understand words, his father’s reminders were relentless. Afterward, Elijah was born. It was said that the Marquess had an agreement: three sons, then he could stop having offspring. However, the third attempt did not prove successful, as dear Emma was born. Perhaps his lordship was not pleased, but her mother, who had always wanted a girl, sighed in relief. Her relief only grew when, after Emma, two more beautiful girls were born. The procreation only ceased with the arrival of sweet Eric.
Emma's childhood was not an uncommon one. Her father only gave any time of his day to his firstborn, out of duty, while the rest of his children were left in the care of their mother and nanny—a situation that most of them did not mind at all. Unlike other brothers, Elijah did not resent the lack of future responsibilities, especially when he saw the weight of the world seemingly rest on Edmund’s shoulders after each private lesson with the Viscount. Fortunately, their mother’s love was more than enough. Georgia found contentment and, with time, even true happiness in her children. Every waking moment of her day was dedicated to them. She made sure no one felt less important than the others, giving them equal time and attention. Emma, somehow, always found herself helping her.
She didn’t really know her father, as the man only appeared when a scolding was necessary or when he needed to deliver a lengthy speech on duty, responsibility, and expectations. Nevertheless, childhood was bliss. During that magical time when one is neither woman nor man, just a child, Emma followed her older brothers everywhere. She rode with them, practiced fencing with sticks, and returned home covered in mud in a way a future lady probably shouldn't have. She played every day and discovered a passion for painting. Her childish landscapes, offered as gifts to her mother, soon blossomed into one of her many talents.
When the time for Eton came for Edmund, and then for Elijah, Emma took the opportunity to become closer to her sisters. Eleanor was both a dream and a nightmare. A lover of gossip but also of forthrightness, the young lady never seemed to find the line between a mild lack of manners and plain, simple rudeness. On the other hand, Elena was the picture of a true angel with malicious intentions, her pranks on Eric growing worse each time. Emma became the caregiver of them all, minding Eleanor's tongue for her and helping Elena out of trouble—or better yet, helping Eric get his revenge. When Edmund and Elijah returned for the summer holidays, they always tried to teach her whatever they had been learning at Eton, while she told them all about her private tutoring and lessons with the governess.
Life went on like that, with her brothers always serving as the masculine figures the Marquess never was. They taught her to ride so well that she could gallop at full speed on a steed. They taught her to defend herself with a sword through fencing, although it was impossible to convince them to let her handle a gun.
Her first season "on the market" went well, but thanks to the Viscount’s lack of interest, Emma did not rush herself into marriage prospects. Instead, she accepted callers with grace and politeness. That is, until her father’s sudden passing. Hunting can be dangerous, and accidents can happen. The Viscount made it home alive but only long enough to speak with his firstborn before slipping away. Nobody knows what happened behind those closed doors—only that Edmund was never the same. The heir became a replica of what his father had been, though at least he was present in Emma’s life. However, his presence was perhaps not in the way she would have liked, as he seemed to have made it his life's goal to marry off each sibling as quickly as possible.
Plotting
Romance
To say that she knows love would be an upperstatement, but to say that she longs for love wouldn't, although she does not know even what she is looking for. Probably a good friend, a good listener, someone to discover with what is the world made of. She desires the warm she lacked of as a child and the passion she reads in every novel. She would like to have someone to comfort her for once, a shoulder she could cry on. A love that would take care of her as much as she would of him. Or that's what she thinks. In reality, Emma knows little about love, and it would be sensible to say that romantic novels did it no justice.Friends
Due to have been raised in a loveless household, although with siblings she adores, she would need friends that are the best of both worlds. They would need to be forthright, "truth be told", with sincere feelings and without subtle intentions. She would also like someone faithful, who will support her and stand by her. This does not mean they should do so "no matter what", as she would like to be told when she is in the wrong. But with love, always. Otherwise, she could not be sure she could bear it.And, of course, humorous. One with such a tragic past would need a friend who could see some light in the dark, some fun in an unlucky situation. A person who could light her up when her mind could only turn into an unbearable turnmoil.
