Hello, everyone! It’s hard to believe that it’s already April, but here we are with another State of the Grey!
With few storms and little moisture to clear it out, and the cold spring weather, smoke hangs heavily over the city.
Two Month-iversary
The Great Grey has been officially open for two months now, and we are absolutely thrilled with our little community! Together we’ve written over two thousand posts! We feel extremely lucky to have such a wonderful group of writers here, and we cannot express our gratitude enough for the work and creativity that every single one of you puts forward to help make the Grey a very special place.April Events
The Thames Torso Murders
The violent spree continues! Bits and pieces of people have been found across the East End, and the police seem no closer to finding the culprit… or culprits. As the cold winter finally begins to loosen its grasp on the city, more people are out and about — but go carefully, and in groups, lest you become a victim yourself… Or find yourself in a Met police cell, being questioned! More information is available here! The Great Egg Hunt
From April 1st to the 30th, players can hunt across the Grey for twenty-four hidden Easter eggs! There are prizes for participation, as well as special prizes for finding all 24 eggs! Points, avatar frames, and even a free title up to duke are up for grabs! More information is available here!Charity Egg Hunt & St. George’s Day
The Ladies’ Committee of the Charity Organisation Society has arranged for an egg hunt and picnic to be held in the Bethnal Green Gardens on Easter Sunday! Through the generosity of these kind ladies, the destitute of the city will be treated to free meat pies, hot cross buns, and an egg hunt for the young’uns. Later on in the month, the city will be celebrating St. George’s Day with feasting, sermons, and Morris dancing! You can read all about it here!Weather
The cold winter has finally started to break! While it’s still unseasonably cold, and unseasonably dry, the city has begun to see the first signs of a true spring. It would be wise to keep stocked up on coal and oil for keeping warm, but the city is starting to bustle a bit more as people leave the safety of their warm hearths to spend a bit more time outdoors. With few storms and little moisture to clear it out, and the cold spring weather, smoke hangs heavily over the city.
Reminders
- Image Size — Sorry to keep nagging about this, but another gentle reminder that new characters should be submitted with an image that is 300x300 pixels exactly! This is a recurring issue, not something that one person is doing, so we just wanted to remind everyone once more! If you don’t have access to photo editing software, there’s several sites that offer that service, or reach out to members of the staff or the community, and someone should be able to help you!
- New Items in the Shop — Thanks to Keaton’s hard work, we are happy to announce that the shop has new aesthetic options! Sidebar frames can be bought and applied per-character, and custom discord roles will give you a unique role on the server, complete with a name color, title, and icon! Prices and examples of the frames can be seen in the shop, but please note that these can only be changed once a month!
- Farewell, and Thanks For All The Fish! — As mentioned in her Discord announcement, Lyric has stepped down as staff. She isn’t going anywhere, but is going to focus her time and attention on writing, real life… And maybe just a bit on Never. 😉
- March Activity Check — You still have six more days to post your March activity check if you haven’t done so! You can also post your April activity check as soon as you hit 400 words with your character(s)! Getting this done early helps staff out!
Final Thoughts
We already gushed in the beginning about how wonderful this community is, but it bears repeating. We love you guys! You make the work absolutely worth it, and we’re happy to be able to provide you all with a safe, fun space to write. The past two months (and change) have been wonderful, and here’s to many more!
