Harold Hastings

Requested by Velvet · Associated with Cicilia Fitzroy
Mid-30s · Male · English/French · Baron Hastings
FC: Fabien Frankel · Non-Negotiable
Relationship: Family, enemy
Requested by Velvet · Associated with Cicilia Fitzroy

When Baron Thomas Hastings married Cicilia Morgan, his two grown sons were caught unaware and in utter disbelief. Their new step-mother, wed not long after the death of their own dear Mama, was a mere few years their senior! Well, from the first instance the trio never quite saw eye to eye despite Cicilia’s efforts to try and save what was left — after all, it was quite obvious that her choice of husband had never been their father, and it was to be insisted upon that Thomas Hastings was not the nice, loving kind of man one would hope for. When his father died, Harold chose to marry quickly in order to abandon the Baroness to the Dowager title, Harold made his plans to push his step-mother into her brother’s arms instead (to Wales, in fact, far away from the Hastings foothold). They have barely seen one another since, but it is said that she has claimed to push for her son’s inheritance, and now that she has pulled the strings of a man’s heart she may call herself a Duchess! Harold will fight tooth and nail to keep her from his family name, but even then, he is just a man. His friends say he is Exciting, Genuine & Punctual. Cicilia claims he is Childish, Crafty & Difficult.

Alexander Findley

Requested by Velvet · Associated with Felicité Findley
Late 20s · Male · English · Actor
FC: Joey Batey · Non-Negotiable
Relationship: Family
Requested by Velvet · Associated with Felicité Findley

When they were very little, Alexander and Felicité were mostly always alone. Left to their own devices, they would entertain one another with plays and stories, acting out the passages left to the children’s nursery. Where Felicité treated such a pastime as simply playing with her brother, Alexander fell dreadfully in love. Though it was their father’s preference that his daughters see beyond the confines of social expectation, it was Alexander who took such a lesson to head. He would beg his parents to take him to the Oxford theatres, in which he watched visiting troupes perform anything from new scripts to Shakespearian tales. His mother was distressed by her son’s whimsical nature, his father even more so since the boys were meant to follow a more academic path like his own! So, what happened? As his sisters escaped the nest by means of marriage (or in Fi’s arrangement, education), Alexander was forced to contend with expectation. Though he went to school and was known for his moderate intelligence, Alexander would give most of his time to the arts, to the point in which he was known locally as an actor. Some years ago, Alexander joined his sister Felicité and Evangeline’s household to try and find work as an actor in London, and with some pinch of success (the amount, how and where is UTP) Alexander has worked on the stage — to the point that he now rents a home of his own in the city. Success is for the taking, but can he truly stand the disappointment of his father? The fans call him Earnest, Sympathetic & Passionate. The critics claim him as Boisterous, Provocative & Vulnerable.

Evangeline Brewster

Requested by Velvet · Associated with Felicité Findley
Late 20s · Female · English · Photographer
FC: Eve Hewson · Non-Negotiable
Relationship: Family
Requested by Velvet · Associated with Felicité Findley

Evangeline was always rebellious. Having watched her older siblings push the boundaries, there was very little that Evangeline had to do to get what she wanted, which left the gates wide open to misinterpretation. As her mother tried to wrangle what control she had over her daughters, Evangeline dodged all influence to find herself quickly made an adult in the eyes of men. As one brother became a successful businessman, another a prospective doctor, Evangeline was left to watch her older sister find fortune in the arms of a politician. Well, what was Evangeline meant to do? Before she had time to decide what she wanted from life, as was the luck of being a Findley child, Evangeline set her eyes on a neighbour instead. Like her mother before her, she got married without much thought or planning, and moved with him to London where they set up a grand, gothic household in Highgate. Her husband was a sailor, a man who had been a figure of convenience, and was sent to guide men up the Irrawaddy River during the third Anglo-Burmese War in 1885. By his disappearance, and officially claimed death, Evangeline was forced into mourning… Alas, the transition was not a poor one, for with his inheritance and a house all of her own, Evangeline invested in her own hobbies and passions, which evolved into an almost obsession with the new found arts of photography. Now, in 1883, Evangeline’s younger sister Felicité moved into her Highgate home after her education in Paris, and lived in the house till 1887. The two sisters (along with their younger brother) are the closest of the group, mostly because their youth was left to the wilds, and their twinned creativity leads all else. She is Persuasive, Challenging & Daring… Though she can also be Hasty, Blunt & Troublesome.

Jack Fisher

Site Canon Character
Somerset House Head Butler
30 – 35 · Male
FC: Sope Dirisu
Site Canon Character

For his entire life, Jack has lived to the order of others. Born to a modest daily who were fortunate enough to leave their son in the company of an actual house estate, Jack has only really ever known Somerset House and its surrounding boundaries. Having begun as a footman, like the House Steward himself, Jack has glittering ambition to inherit the position by the time Mr Brown retires, though it is to be said that he lacks the certain dedication to the daily itself, despite the fact that they have housed and cared for Jack more than his own parents had been. Recently, he has been eager to put himself first where he can, which led him into a precarious situation with a member of the Cleveland St Brothel place by the Thames — a miscalculation that led him to use what leverage he had to bargain a place for the new housekeeper, Ms Hill. Still, this won’t be the end of him, will it?

Mary Ann Hill

Site Canon Character
Housekeeper
40 – 50 · Female
FC: Samantha Morton
Site Canon Character

There isn’t much that Ms Hill can’t do, hasn’t seen or won’t try. Having experienced London from the inside out (though she won’t talk about her time in the Work Houses), Mary Ann has schemed and borrowed to get to where she has come to! How did she find herself as the Housekeeper at Somerset House? Why! It’s simple! She got the job after blackmailing the head butler of course, though some would say that she has not the experience to front the head of house or rival the dedication of Mr Brown, Ms Hill has paid her way and now finally has the chance to live the life she has long since deserved.

George Brown

Site Canon Character
Somerset House Steward
40 – 50 · Male
FC: Danny Sapani
Site Canon Character

A man who has long since taken pride in his work, George Brown, is known for the careful hand deployed among his staff and the continued loyalty to the Seymour family. Having started his life as a footman, Mr Brown has worked himself up to the very top of the hierarchy, leaving each and every member of the household to resort to him for advice, wisdom and orders. Long has he had very few to answer to, or so, that was till the appearance and employment of the new housekeeper — cast to sudden competition and rivalry, Mr Brown must remain resilient and dedicated to his work, or else will fail.

Thomas Findley

Requested by Velvet · Associated with Felicité Findley
Early 30s · Male · English · Physician at Bethlem Royal Hospital & Teacher
FC: Nicholas Galitzine · Non-Negotiable
Relationship: Family
Requested by Velvet · Associated with Felicité Findley

Tommy has always been deadly serious compared to his siblings, and has followed more closely to the path of that of his mother. Having been quite ill when he was younger, to the point of almost failing to come out the other end, Annabella Findley held her second born son close. Racked with colds and flus, Thomas was cherished and found that most of his delights were found in the safe comfort of the family home’s library that was filled floor to ceiling with rich tombs of knowledge. Though he was not influenced to study Physics by his father, Thomas became enamored with other sciences. As was the case with each of the Findley children, Thomas was afforded a rich education, and was accepted into the prestigious halls of Oxford University where he studied Biology, a few rooms away from his father’s own lectures. He moved to London a few years ago to teach at St Mary’s Hospital and the School of Medicine for Women, till 1888, in which he (alongside his other positions) was made a physician at Bethlem Royal Hospital. Thomas also thinks he can fix his youngest sister’s melancholic deposition with hypnotherapy, but neither have embarked on that route just yet. His peers and friends have said that he is Thorough, Empathetic & Honest… Though others claim him to be Obsessive, Irritable & Single-Minded.

Beatrice Frell

Requested by Velvet · Associated with Felicité Findley
Early 30s · Female · English · Gentlewoman
FC: Dakota Johnson · Non-Negotiable
Relationship: Family
Requested by Velvet · Associated with Felicité Findley

Beatrice’s upbringing was mostly beneath the care of her mother, Annabella. And yet, where her mother pushed Beatrice to look to advancement and proper etiquette, her father (David) often tried to splinter the relationship so his first born daughter may look elsewhere for fulfillment. As such, her relationship with her mother is strained yet the one with her father is forgiving. Afforded a fine education, Beatrice is known for her inherited beauty and quick wit, which indeed led her into the arms of a charming politician. Now known widely as the wife of a powerful man, Beatrice resides in London (where? Entirely UTP, as long as it is befitted of an Upper-Middle class household) and practises her well tuned act of hosting and socialising as a prim socialite of the season. Her own advancement has led the Paulets, her maternal relations, to even extend invitations to their social balls and has as such given rise to Beatrice’s place in the world. It is UTP if she has children, or if she is still married and what that relationship is like. She is celebrated for her Resourceful, Witty and Ambitious characteristics. Though it is to be minded that she can be Non-Committal, Compulsive and Money-Minded above all else.

Fitzwilliam de Montmorency

Site Canon Character
Viscount de Mountmorres
30s · Male
FC: François Arnaud
Site Canon Character · Group: The Ellis/de Montmorencys

With a mother who died in the birthing bed and an indifferent father, Fitzwilliam was raised primarily by nannies and the gentling influence of his older half-sister. Warm, charming and self-confident, he stepped easily into the role of Viscount upon his father’s death, despite being only eighteen at the time, although he relies almost entirely upon others to manage his affairs. He is known to be flirtatious and reckless with the reputations of himself and others, but recommends himself through his fierce loyalty to his family, and particular protectiveness of his sister.

Elton Ellis IV

Site Canon Character
Baron Seaford
30s · Male
FC: Ethan Peck
Site Canon Character · Group: The Ellis/de Montmorencys

Despite having been prepared to become Baron Seaford his entire life, two years after his father’s death, Elton is still uncertain how he is meant to play the part. Part of him always imagined his father — Sturdy, harsh, and recklessly abusive — would live forever. Faced now with being the head of the family and all that entails, he struggles daily with the plain fact of his responsibilities and spends too much time out on the town drinking and carousing with friends and his uncle.
