Introduction

About

Oh, well, I don't know... I've been writing since I was 14 years old, and I cannot imagine my life without spending hours doing what has become a passion over the years. But I am shy, quite introverted, and always overthinking, so please be patience. I have good ideas and I'm kinda nice, I just take time to share and to get comfortable.

And Winifred Readman, a girl that prefers action than words, but a girl that knows nothing of the world or, quite frankly, her past. And oh, her past is full of surprises, I'll tell you that.

Personal Style

Despite his family’s wealth, Erastus is a simple man at heart. Even when dressed in the latest fashions, he strives not to stand out like a sore thumb in the crowd. He often wears jewelry, but it is simple and understated, designed to avoid attention — unless, of course, his father insists otherwise.

Circumstances

Currently

Erastus is currently endeavoring to carve out a side career in the natural sciences. Yet, given his father’s staunch disapproval, it is a pursuit fraught with difficulty. At the same time, he takes on the role of guiding his cousin, Nik, urging him to avoid "that damnable drug" of his. But while Nik disappears, using Erastus as an alibi, Erastus too seeks out an escape—one where his heart breaks and he dares to dream of the impossible. For as long as there is a glimmer of hope, his mind refuses to change. Or so he believes, as though his own sharpness could outwit the world, convinced of his superior understanding, as though it were wisdom rather than folly.

Health & Capabilities

Since his conception took time, his parents took every possible measure to ensure that their future heir would be the picture of health. And that, he is. Erastus cannot recall a single instance when he fell ill with more than a mild cold. In adulthood, he continues to uphold this streak, maintaining his health through a balanced diet and regular exercise whenever possible.

Socioeconomics

Thanks to his father's keen eye for investments, the viscounty is thriving. Erastus Radclyffe II has no qualms about embracing progress, adopting new inventions, and pursuing industrial ventures — so long as it keeps his coffers overflowing. That, coupled with having only one heir, certainly helps keep the family’s wealth intact.

Background

History

Erastus Radclyffe III was a long-awaited and eagerly anticipated child. After many fruitless attempts, the future heir finally decided his parents had waited long enough. From the moment that tiny baby opened his eyes, one thing became abundantly clear — nobody told Erastus what to do. He refused to nurse on schedule and never slept when he was supposed to. The typical tantrums of a child served him well during his infancy, ensuring he got whatever he desired. But once he was able to form complete sentences, his father took charge.

The Viscount, a strict and uncompromising man, wasted no time teaching Erastus the ways of a gentleman of high status. Fencing, shooting, meeting the tenants, and learning the names of the maids and butlers — every aspect of estate life was introduced to him as part of his training for the role he would one day assume. Needless to say, the young boy obeyed — but only when his father was watching. Erastus had a special talent for getting his way. Always. If an order was inescapable, he would follow it to the letter, but more often than not, he found loopholes, double meanings, and creative interpretations that allowed him to do as he pleased. This, of course, drove his father mad. His mother, on the other hand, found his antics endlessly amusing.

The departure for Eton was a relief to everyone. His father’s nerves were frayed, and Erastus saw the move as a grand opportunity. Unlike many of his peers, Erastus never sought to please anyone but himself. He never viewed an imposition or an uncomfortable situation as a punishment, but as a chance to turn things to his advantage. His high spirits and natural charisma earned him many companions, while his intellect and athleticism secured him a strong reputation. To outsiders, it seemed everything came to him effortlessly, but they were unaware of the many hours of study and hard work he poured into his pursuits. Mathematics, however, required no such struggle — he had a natural love and aptitude for it.

His time at Eton eventually came to an end, and a new chapter began at Cambridge. There, his true nature blossomed. His spirits soared higher than ever, and he pursued his studies with renewed passion after choosing Natural Sciences as his degree. He gained mentors among his professors — some helpful, others a thorn in his side. His reputation as a scholar grew, but gossipers painted him as a rake, not because of his own behavior but due to the company he kept. Still, Erastus was easily adored. His devil-may-care smile and roguish charm got him out of most predicaments, and he always seemed to know the right thing to say — or when to quietly slip away.

That is, until he met someone who taught him a hard truth: one cannot always have what one desires. But of that, he speaks to no one. Not a soul.

Returning to London, Erastus found himself facing a most peculiar situation. A cousin — apparently a sinner, if not worse — was to live with them under the guise of "learning the appropriate ways of a man." The arrangement also included detoxification, a task that was met with whispers of scandal. Erastus, true to form, smiled at his fortune and resolved to make the most of it.
Plotting

Romance

Erastus knows little of love, aside from the idealized version he has crafted in his mind — a vision that likely fails to align with the full truths of reality. He seeks a partner who is more than a companion; he yearns for a friend. The typical ladies of the ton pale in comparison to what he desires: a woman who bends the rules to her will, much like he does. A jester in spirit, free of judgment, and filled with vitality — someone who craves more from life than bearing children and perfecting embroidery. He wants to be surprised, to be left speechless. Yet, deep down, he is unsure if such a person exists for him.

Meanwhile, his father insists that he find the "perfect" highborn woman — the complete opposite of everything Erastus seeks in a partner.

Friends

With his natural charisma, Erastus has a knack for making friends wherever he goes — that is, as long as his jester-like nature doesn’t land him in trouble. Even when it does, he always seems to find a way to wriggle out of it.

Long before Nik's arrival, Erastus was never one to be judgmental. As far as he is concerned, as long as a person's behavior or antics cause no harm, he has no reason to object. Since Nik's arrival, his perspective has broadened even further, despite their differences in interests.

Antagonism

Personally, Erastus has no enemies, but that does not mean they couldn't emerge at some point in his life for any number of reasons.
