Introduction
“The course of true love never did run smooth.”
– A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
– A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Appearance
Notable Features
Enzo has a lean, overly skinny, and almost petite frame; some would even say effeminate.Adding to his allure, Enzo has a sharp, defined face, marked by two unforgettable features: first, a pair of big aquamarine-blue eyes that can convey its owner’s naiveté and apparent innocence, and second, a full, fleshy, plump pair of lips that baits and tempts.
Enzo’s curls are starting to pass his ears and reach his shoulders, a wild, messy, dark-chocolate collared wave of hair.
Personal Style
Enzo’s style is the perfect combo of his financial situation, both of his professions, and his personality. He prefers the cheapest linen and wool, oversized pieces, and colors like beige, white, and light grey, occasionally some black.
Being the son of a seamstress also helps.
It’s only because of his mother that Enzo owns a grey tweed morning coat that he uses for his work as a messenger.
Enzo’s nightwear usually consists of black wool, knee-length, topcoat (another piece sewn by his mother), a loose white linen shirt, and a black silk Venetian hose, indecently shorten.
Enzo Esposito
Circumstances
Currently
Trying his best to be “the perfect son” and to live up to the pressure of being “the man of the house,” Enzo wakes up, never misses a day of work, never complains, and always complies.Ready to follow orders, he’s dutiful to his core.
Lunch and dinnertime are sacred to Enzo; he religiously has it with his mother every day.
Enzo gives all his messenger salary to his mother and some of the “other” money he makes for their apartment and day-to-day expenses, obviously he lies about the extra money’s origins, claiming it comes from betting victories.
Health & Capabilities
Regardless of any ill-thought-out impression that Enzo’s scrawny physique might give, he is in perfect health. He may be too lean, but his body is tight.
He got toned thighs and a round and firm derrière from all the bicycling and mail-delivering.
He eats well, mostly vegetables, all cooked by his mother.
Some allege that lovemaking can also be a way of exercising, if such conception holds truth in it, then there’s another activity that helps the young man stay in such fit shape.
Socioeconomics
Enzo has always known the trials and tribulations of a modest life.Back at his birthplace, however, life looked promising; his father owned a small manor by the beach; it had its garden and even a maid. Jeanne’s pregnancy was heaven; she was pampered every step of the way.
Yet, Enzo never got the chance to taste any of it; everything changed when his father died.
Jeanne waited until after birth to run away.
Back in France, Jeanne created Enzo under dire circumstances; mother and son shared a single bedroom with two other families at the depths of Paris’ slums.
Fortunately she could always count on the kindness and assistance of her neighbors, all of them as penniless as she and her newborn son, but charitable nevertheless.
Jeanne worked all her life, as a maid and seamstress, and still, even with a money shortage, she insisted that Enzo study.
She left him under the guidance of an elderly retired professor that lived at a tenement nearby.
When Enzo turned 18, Jeanne decided to move to London, chasing better pay and new opportunities.
And this time, Enzo was adamant about getting a job and helping her out.
She didn’t protest.
Nowadays, combining all their earnings, they can afford a better place than the rat’s nest they lived at in Paris.
They are currently living in a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment.
They can afford better food, namely vegetables, fish, seafood, occasionally some pork, and even some wine and cider.
Skills & Talents
♡ Singing & Dancing: Growing up around artists taught Enzo a thing or two. A natural soprano, despite almost never rehearsing or even taking his voice seriously, Enzo is capable of hitting some pretty high notes. As for the dancing… It has been helpful for the “other job,” mixing a crude form of ballet and improvised moves; he moves around gracefully and seductively.♡ Trilingual: Fluent speaker of French, Italian, and English (his English may at times be laced by his French accent still).
Reading & Writing: Highly unusual for a boy of his “upbringing,” yet Enzo learned from all the classes from his neighbor.
♡ Attentive Listener: Some take his quietness and shyness as softness, a sign of a mere body stripped of autonomy and brain. But Enzo is always listening… Always!
♡ Exquisite Acting Skills: It takes quite a talent in acting to lead a double life, and Enzo has it. He hates to admit it, feels dirty and guilty thinking about it, but the true is simples, he’s an incredible competent liar.
Present Relationships
♡ Jeanne Esposito (Enzo’s mother).♡ Martin Love (Friend? Father Figure? Pimp? Maybe more? Maybe none? Who knows? It’s complicated).
Identity
Hobbies
♡ Dancing: Usually around his room, mixing classic moves with crude ones (usually naked).♡ Reading: Searching for bettering his reading skills; has a special love for French novels.
♡ Bicycling: Even when (and especially when) he isn’t working, he likes to bike around town, feel the wind against his skin.
Writing: Another consequence of an art-surrounded childhood, Enzo writes accounts of his lewd adventures, and smutty dreams.
Habits & Routines
Enzo wakes up very early, eats an apple on his way out, grabs his bicycle, and starts his entire work routine.First stop: The Post Office.
Then, it’s out and about.
Enzo’s route begins in Central London, the West End, and North London.
Enzo then has lunch, always alongside his mother, followed by a quick nap before going back to work.
He finishes his deliveries going to South London and Greater London.
As night falls and the moon rises, he once again has a meal with his mother.
Once Jeanne goes to sleep, Enzo dips his body into the bathtub for an almost ritualistic bath, a mix of water, sheep’s milk, and olive oil.
Enzo dries it off and dresses up, the topcoat buttoned to the top.
Enzo’s night goes way into the late hours. When he sneaks his way back into his home, the sun is only a couple of hours shy of rising.
Rinse and repeat.
Personality
Enzo lives under a constant psychological “push & pull.”Obedient son by day, well-behaved, still calls his mother “maman” and is seen by her as an angel. To the outsider, Enzo is a “mama’s boy,” shy and averse to strangers.
However, at nightfall all Enzo’s fears go away, and he doesn’t think twice before indulging his urges, putting aside all his hesitations and allowing himself to be led solely by desire.
He would never dream of admitting to himself or anyone aloud, but he gets thrills even from the most dangerous encounters; matter of fact, those are the ones he yearns for the most.
Enzo doesn’t know boundless ambition; indubitably, he strives for a comfortable living and, above all else, envisions granting his mother a work-free life, ever blissful and full of luxuries. But he definitely does not nurture material greed for himself.
Enzo is greedy for love.
He desperately craves it in all its shapes: romantic, sexual, platonic, and artistic.
He feeds off of it; he seeks it; he chases it with abandon and no second thought.
He just loves it.
He loves to be loved.
He loves to be desired.
He loves attention.
He’ll do anything to get it, and once he senses it, just the mere blink of it, he’ll do anything to keep it.
He’ll endure it all, as long as he is loved.
Background
History
(TW: Underage Drinking and Suicide Attempt)Enzo is the fruit of a torrid relationship between a captain of the Italian Army, his father, Massimo, and a Frenchwoman, his mother, Jeanne. The couple’s love blossomed as Italy suffered with then-historic levels of tension; there was a lot of resentment towards foreign meddling, and such ire fueled the Risorgimento, a movement that sought to reunify Italy. Massimo left to fight right after installing Jeanne in his beach manor in Syracuse around 1867, months prior to Enzo’s birth. The captain thought he would soon meet his son.
He didn’t.
Massimo died on September 20th, 1870, during the taking of Rome and the Papal States.
After losing her husband, his clout of protection, and detecting growing disdain against foreign people in her village, Jeanne decided to flee Italy altogether.
A strenuous boat trip took her back to her birthplace. Only child and with no close relative, Jeanne had to fend for herself to survive.
She found a community of kind souls in a Paris’ slum where she and her newborn son shared a single room with two other families.
Jeanne took on many menial jobs to gather what little money she could.
Meanwhile, Enzo got to grow up surrounded by artists and gentle hustlers; despite what little money they all had; their lives were always a party.
The nights were long, rhymed by poets, singers, and jesters; salons of reading were frequent; there’s always a bottle of wine or a keg of beer; and they shared it all: wine, bread, beds, thoughts, and dreams.
At thirteen, Enzo was fully experiencing all the perks of this life, including partaking in some wine drinking.
Jeanne was quite liberal, except when it came to the little man’s studies.
She was the one who arranged the tutoring with Monsieur Noé, a retired professor from a neighboring tenement.
The old man taught all the basics to Enzo.
Yet true enlightenment came in the form of a bourgeois painter, a few years Enzo’s senior, Louis G. Bénoliel.
They met as Enzo (15) strutted back from Mr. Noé’s home.
Louis became obsessed with Enzo’s facial features; he asked to draw them. Enzo fell under the painter’s spell right there and then. From that day on they became devoted to each other. Louis designed Enzo as his “muse,” and in between painting sessions, they would spend whole afternoons at Louis’ studio; lying on the rug, Louis would read Shakespeare aloud to Enzo.
Their involvement, although never carnal, marked a shift in young Enzo; it was the birth of his hunger.
When Louis announced his engagement to an aristocratic heiress, things went awry quickly. Enzo accused Louis of being distant and threw what can only be described as jealousy tantrums.
Things reached a boiling point when Enzo attempted suicide with pills stolen from Mr. Noé. Louis managed to save his muse and decided to step back; he said his goodbye by letter, called off the engagement with the heiress, and moved to the countryside.
Following the advice from friends who had done the same years prior, Jeanne decided to take a chance and move to London. Enzo welcomed the change of air.
Upon arrival, things didn’t change much. Mother and son struggled, counting every single penny, living in a tiny, rotten place. It all changed when Enzo got a job, his first ever, as a Telegram Messenger.
And then, out of the blue, one night he stayed out until pretty late and came back home with more money, telling his mother it was his earnings from betting.
The scene repeated itself night after night again… Suddenly, the duo was living at a much nicer place—nothing posh, just a decent small apartment in South London.
Jeanne doesn’t have a reason to think her son, her “petit chevalier,” lies to her.
As his mother lives her life oblivious, Enzo goes out every night and allows himself to do and be done to any and everything until someday another man looks at him the way Louis looks at him or the day Louis comes back (they resumed contact through letters; it was the painter who reached out first) to reclaim Enzo, his heart, his love, and his now used body.
Plotting
Romance
Where to start?Enzo's romantic longings are often paradoxical.
In true naïve fashion he dreams about that one big, soul-crushing, gut-wrenching, life-wrecking love. The problem is, anyone can be it, since any crumb of passion burns so fervently within Enzo.
He can fall in and out of love as quick as a child adores and forgets a new toy.
Such indecisiveness leads him to always keep looking, always following his heart, regardless of where it may take him.
Not a mean person, but he can turn wicked when in love; always the dutiful one, yet he can turn into the most selfish of creatures.
Lie. Cheat. Sell. Buy. Degrade (mostly self).
Nothing is off limits when it comes to love.
It’s the ultimate proof that even the kindest of hearts can leave a trail of destruction behind in the name of something that might even be unachievable.
Friends
Enzo’s silent frown and apparent shyness can give out the wrong impression that he doesn’t want to be approached. But Enzo’s coy personality is a thin wall, easily cracked, underneath he is sweet, eager to talk, and incredibly charming. Most find his naiveté a trace that is particularly endearing.
He’s also loyal to the end; he’ll keep secrets, listen to complaints, and console cries, all while putting on a warm smile and spitting out some French word that it’ll cause laughs.
Antagonism
Under normal circumstances, it’s pretty abysmal to imagine that someone like Enzo can attract enemies; however when his love obsession comes into play, things get muddled.A jilted lover, a scorned wife, or a betrayed fiancée can all become possible foes.
Furthermore, one counsels keeping an eye out for religious prudes, too shadowy regulars, and bitter colleagues.
Kinks
Enzo is as famished for sex as he is for love; he sees the two as equals and believes he will find one through another.
A virgin up until he started working for Martin Love at Maggie’s, Enzo revealed himself to be a rare case of a true enthusiast of the “work,” but don’t question him on it; he’ll play coy and pretend to be ashamed of it.
Yet no mask stays on once he gets to “work”; eagerness like his is difficult to fake.
An oral devotee to the splashy end, a submissive receiver who takes any size in any position under any condition at any place, enjoys debasing names being thrown at him, hits the highest of moans, and not only endures some roughing up but actively asks for it; Enzo behaves like nothing short of a sex fiend.
